CJ
PhuÕs love of nature inspires his devotion to paint botanical plants. He use acrylic paint, graphite,
charcoal and oil stick in abstract mixed media compositions. CJ applies texts with layers of paint
to create a mixture of ingredients for the canvas. The blanket of texts add
texture, patterns, depth, and chaos, give the sense as though the painting
itself is on a process of thoughts, undeveloped, unfinished growing like wild
weed.
Born
in Vietnam to Chinese parents, CJ grew up on Cape Cod and graduated Cum
Laude with a
BFA in Painting and Illustration from the University of Massachusetts
Dartmouth. His paintings are
exhibited extensively in the New England area, and are currently on view in the
exhibitions ÒIn NatureÕs CompanyÓ at the Peabody Essex Museum and ÒSanctuaryÓ
at the Massachusetts Audobon Society in Sharon, MA. His work is found in many private and corporate collections
including Fidelity Investments in Boston.
